GEM Fair
Southern Rockhounds have our Annual Gem Fair the first full weekend of November at our Christies Downs Clubhouse, in Adelaide's south. Over 30 stall holders attend from various parts of South Australia and Interstate providing the opportunity to purchase a wide variety of rock and mineral specimens from Australia and overseas. From 'rough' through to finished stones and expertly finished jewellery, there is something for everyone. With some of the best Opal fields in the world right here in Australia, this beautiful gemstone often features strongly at our fairs with breathtaking specimens available for purchase at great prices.
Demonstrations are held inside the Clubhouse giving visitors insight into the different workshops we offer as well as experiencing the machinery and tools that are available for use at the Club and also the opportunity to meet some of our workshop managers.​
Another great experience are the excellent showcases that are entered by our Club members. These are theme based exhibits showcasing their work that they have done at the Club or parts of their private collections including:

The event is fully catered for, with our food outlets being staffed by our enthusiastic Club members offering a range of BBQ options, sandwiches, drinks, cakes and Devonshire Tea.
There is also supervised kids fossicking, in our sandpit area, giving even the youngest attendees an experience they can enjoy getting 'down and sandy' using the sieves to find some precious gems to take home.
